Message boards

As discussed in-game with Saffire, message boards will be physical objects in the game on which notes/messages can be posted. This means they can vary in appearance and that a player must be in the same room as the message board in order to read/write messages. Each board can also have multiple sections. This means a given organization could have a single message board with sections like 'news', 'discussion', 'important stuff' or whatever.

New messages could be announced by a town-crier or such. Messages will be marked as new when looking at the board.

Additionally, I am considering having a limited form of threading for messages. Messages may be marked as being in reply to a previous message and when reading a given message the player would be able to view (or see a list of) replies. How this will appear on the screen is something I am still thinking about.

Anyhow, if you have any suggestions or ideas you would like to see implemented for message boards, this is the place to mention them.

This has been kind of a hassle...there is an initial implementation done, but I'm not sure how much I like it. There is a message board in the city square to play around with and HELP NEWS explains how.

If you have any suggestions, particularly on how to make things look better, feel free to throw them out here.

They look great to me.

If you want them to be prettier, I suggest adding in some color. Highlight the poster's name in light blue or something.

A post will now list replies (if any).

I think I'm abandoning the 'sections' idea. I'm not sure it would be that useful, and I'm feeling lazy.

There is now an area-wide announcement when a post is made, although each board can have its own or have none at all.
Note that, due to an implementation detail, the poster doesn't hear it
